Newport Conservative Group
lose two dear friends
The last two days have been extremely difficult. It is with great sadness that we have to announce that we have lost two highly respected and dear colleagues.
Newport Conservative Group and in particular The St. Julian's & Beechwood Conservatives Branch are deeply upset to hear of the sudden passing yesterday of Mohammad Asghar - also known as Oscar to his friends and colleagues.
Mohammad Asghar was the Member of the Senedd (Welsh Parliament) for South East Wales - including Newport. His local office is actually located in our St. Julian's Ward on Church Road. Oscar was a caring, compassionate and strong family man. He was always on hand to provide assistance, help and guidance for Newportonians. We would like to pass on our sincerest sympathies and condolences to Oscar’s wife Firdaus, daughter Natasha, and his wider family and friends.

Also on same day, we were informed of the death of former Newport Councillor / Cabinet Member Peter Davies.
Peter Davies was a former City Councillor and Cabinet Member for Resources within Newport City Council during its time under Conservative control from 2008 to 2012. Peter was a highly respected figure within our branch and was a true gentleman. He always made the time to speak to our branch members and offered great guidance and advice. We would like to pass on our deepest condolences to his wife Kath, and son's David and Bill and all his family at what is a very difficult time.

Oscar was a member of our Newport East Conservative Association and both were active within the Newport Conservative Group more widely.
We will miss them both dearly and Oscar and Peter will never be forgotten.
